inspired by george nakashima’s minguren series, this bench is constructed from the crotch section of a black walnut slab—the area where branching occurs and the most dramatic grain figure of the tree is revealed. natural voids and edge variation are preserved, with two custom lathe-turned walnut legs and a cherry rear support grounding the piece. exposed cracks are stabilized with bowtie inlays.
